EXTENDED BACKPACKING TRIPS ON KODIAK ISLAND
For those seeking a true Alaskan adventure, come on one of our fully-outfitted and guided treks,
traveling wilderness game trails into the island's interior. Treks can be combined with a stay at the
lodge in order to experience both the comfort of the Aleut Island Lodge and the rugged 'outback'
Kodiak's interior offers. We  cater to small groups (4 guest minimum) and can plan a custom trek
that best suits your group's interests and ability level.

Treks are 2-6 days in duration. All trips with master guide/biologist Harry Dodge. We supply food,
tents, and necessary camping equipment. In addition to bears, the group can expect to see a variety
of wildlife including bald eagles, Sitka deer, mountain goat, marine mammals, and more. It's an
absolutely unique and awesome  way to experience spectacular Kodiak Island!

We provide all equipment- even sleeping bag and backpack upon request. Harry Dodge has been
guiding and hiking Kodiak's interior for 30 years. He has hiked the length of the island two times
and has done multiple additional cross-island treks. He offers a wealth of knowledge
about Kodiak flora, fauna, and navigating the island's rugged interior.

Guests should be prepared to carry approx. 40 lbs  of gear (depending on length of hike). Backpack trips
can be planned to meet your schedule and physical ability. We typically travel 5-10 miles/day. Kodiak's
lush vegetation makes June-early July or late September the best times for hiking. Non-insulated hip boots
are the footwear of choice, as there are many boggy areas on Kodiak.
